Uncle Sam's Car Show

If you're shopping around for a used car, consider buying from family. Uncle Sam sells more than 40,000 well-maintained vehicles each year, and buying a vehicle pre-owned by the Federal Government can be easy and convenient.

You can choose from a variety of quality American-made cars, trucks, vans, or SUVs. To find out how to purchase one of these economical vehicles, get a copy of U.S. Government Auto Auctions from the General Services Administration (GSA) and the Federal Citizen Information Center.

First, find an auction near you from the more than 40 sites nationwide. Visit www.autoauctions.gsa.gov to locate an auction, search inventories, or bid on vehicles.

At the auction house, register for the sale and use the inventory list to preview the vehicles on the lot. Choose several vehicles to bid on and be prepared to bid on several alternatives in case your first choice is bought by someone else. Determine the maximum amount you are willing to bid before the auction begins. Guides such as the NADA or Kelly Blue Book Used Car Guides will help you calculate the anticipated price for your vehicle.

Before you bid on a vehicle, it's important to check your intended purchases inside and out. During inspection you can start the vehicle to check performance of its engine, air conditioning, heater, and other accessories, but it must remain parked and cannot be driven.

If you're new to the vehicle auction process, there are plenty of sales associates on hand to answer any questions you may have. And prior to the sale, you may also be able to practice bidding at a mock auction. Once your bid is accepted, you can make payment without any buyer's fees. Check with your local auction house beforehand to determine what forms of payment or credit cards they'll accept.

So, join the thousands of individuals who buy their cars from Uncle Sam. Send for U.S. Government Auto Auctions today! There are three easy ways to get your free publication:

Used Cars Quality Standards
State laws hold dealers responsible if cars they sell don't meet reasonable quality standards. These obligations are called implied warranties - unspoken unwritten promises from the seller to the buyer. However dealers in most states can use the words ""as is"" or ""with all faults"" in a written notice to buyers to eliminate implied warranties.
